New Zealand Borders Set to Fully Reopen in July 2022

We come to you with even better news, travel lovers! New Zealand will open its borders to the rest of the world starting in July 2022.

After two years of relying heavily on strict border controls to mitigate COVID-19, New Zealand borders are set to fully reopen. The country’s government announced a new and faster timetable for welcoming travellers from across the globe — set three months earlier than initially planned. Although, visitors and returning citizens will still have to provide a negative COVID-19 test result before entering the country.

Starting 31 Jul 2022, travellers and visa holders from around the world will be welcome in NZs. Originally, this has been set for October, but the government agreed to carry forward the reopening as long as it was considered safe to do so. This also means that the country is fully open to businesses, families, and migrant communities.

According to Prime Minister Jacinda Arden, the full reopening of New Zealand is part of a bigger immigration scheme. This shakeup includes reorganising immigration pathways to attract skilled workers back to the country, extending visas for migrants, and allowing cruise ships and international students to return.

On Arrival New Zealand is poised to support and resettle all skilled migrants coming to New Zealand.
